Abstract
The gravid uterine rupture is one of the most most serious and emergent problems in obstetric field.
Twelve cases of the gravid uterine rupture observed during a period from January 1966 to December 1970 are presented, analyzed, and the literature was briefly reviewed.
The~reviewed results of 12 cases of uterine rupture were summarized as the follows;
1. The incidence was 1 : 161 deliveries.
2. The age was distributed from 25 to 44 year of age and 8 of these 12 cases were at least 30 year old.
3. The incidence in the parity, para 1 and -2 was the most frequent (6 cases), and 83.3 % were less than para 4.
4. ¢¥According to the site¢¥of rupture, only corpus, was ivolved in 3 cases, corpus and cervix 3, and only cervix 6.
5. Time of rupture was distributed from 31th week of gestation to 42nd week and the peak incidence was between 37th week and 42 nd week.
6. The most important frequent symptoms of uterine_ rupture were lower abdominal pain, shock and genital bleeding.
7. Complication of uterine rupture were occured in 3 cases and most of them was wound infection.
8. In management of the uterine rupture, total hysterectomy was performed in 3 cases (25.0 0) , subtotal hysterectomy 6 cases (50.0 %), and simple closure 3 cases (25.0%).
9. Maternal death rate was 16.7 0 (2 cases) and fatal death rate was 83.3 n (10 cases).
10. According to the etiological factors, traumatic uterine rupture was 8 cases (66.6 %) , previous C-Section scar rupture 2 cases (16.7%), and spontaneous uterine rupture 2 cases (16.7%).
